The prefix "Eireannmada'was first registered in 1968
however Aust Ch Ballina of Irishflame, imported from South Africa in 1973
provided the important foundation for the kennel and introduced the Kinvarra,
Tirvelda & Bayberry bloodlines to Australia. Her breeding with existing
Australian stock based on Hartsbourne & Wendover lines produced
Aust Ch
Eireannmada Arizona, one of the most successful sires of the ‘70s.
His son, the multiple BIS Specialty & All Breeds BIS winner,
Aust
& NZ Ch Eireannmada Montana, continued the tradition producing many of the
top winners in Australia & New Zealand throughout the '80s.
Other members of the stud team included Aust Ch Timadon Jaunty (Imp UK)
and NZ Ch Redstone Oakley, Aust & NZ Ch Ballymoss O’Dougal and NZ Ch
Ballymoss O’Carrig, all imported from New Zealand.
The stud team and Eireannmada bred dogs have sired well in excess of 100
champions. It is not surprising,
therefore, that their bloodlines can be found in the pedigrees of most of the
successful kennels in our country.
Charltons Marigold(Imp USA) (heavily linebred on Ch Candia Indeed) was imported from the
USA in 1982 to consolidate the bloodlines previously introduced by
Aust Ch
Ballina Irishflame. Marigold was
mated with Montana to produce Wells Fargo, the sire of a string of Champions and
Royal Challenge Winners including Aust Ch Eireannmada Dodge City, Aust &
Indian Ch Pendoric Parade, Aust Ch Pendoric Izy Forreal, Aust Ch Quailmoor Jumpn
Jackflash, Aust Ch & USA Ch Quailmoor Jamaican Rum, Aust Ch Brookfire Anzac
Blue.
The bloodlines of
Aust Ch Meadowlarks Engergizer (Imp USA) has provided
this kennel with the opportunity to consolidate on previously introduced
American bloodlines. Energizer
has sired for this kennel a host of champions including some of the most
successful show dogs of this era. They
include Grand Ch Eireannmada At Tulane,
Grand
Ch Eireannmada At Harvard,
Grand Ch
Eireannmada Times Square, Aust Ch Eireannmada Liberty, Aust & NZ Ch Eireannmada Sequoia & Aust Ch Eireannmada Santa Monica.
Gr Ch Eireannmada At Tulane
& his litter brother Gr Ch Eireannmada At Harvard were representative of
the successful combination of English & American bloodlines achieved by this
kennel. They were sired by Ch
Meadowlarks Energizer (Imp USA), and their dam, Eireannmada Irish Whimsy, carries
the English Cornevon and Wendover bloodlines.
Outstanding bitches bred under this prefix include Aust Ch Eireannmada Hi Jinx,
NZ Ch Eireannmada Heirloom, Aust Ch Eireannmada Zeralda, Aust Ch Eireannmada
Ecstacy, Aust Ch Eireannmada Pastina, Aust Ch Eireannmada Matilda, Aust & NZ
Ch Eireannmada Sequoia, Aust Ch Eireannmada Liberty & Aust Ch Eireannmada
Requiem.
The return to Australia of Aust Ch Marigold Maximum Delight in whelp to American
Ch Sunshine’s First Rate has provided this kennel with the exciting young male
Eireannmada Ode to Autumn. Further
development of bloodlines has been possible using frozen semen from America and
England. Eng Show Ch Thendara Okay
Yaa has sired Aust Ch Eireannmada Top Class, Aust Ch Eireannmada Top Gun and the
highly regarded brood bitch Eireannmada Top Drawer.
American Ch Sunnyhills Wings of the Wind has sired Indian Ch Eireannmada
Manhattan and Aust Ch. Eireannmada FT Riley.
With such an international background, it is not surprising Eireannmada stock
can be found not only in Australia but in many other countries.
Recent exports to Asia include Indian Champions Eireannmada Kings Canyon,
Eireannmada Reflections and Eireannmada Manhattan and Malaysian Champion
Eireannmada Honour Roll. Another
successful export was Aust Ch Eireannmada Mustafa, the sire of multiple best in
show winning Aust Ch Marigold Maximum Delight.
Mustafa was, by arrangement, relocated with Piet & Marga Roks in the
Netherlands where his true potential as a stud dog could be realised. He has achieved at the highest level as a veteran in the show
ring and is now also a proven sire in Europe.
Eireannmada is acknowledged as one of the most successful kennels, with an
enviable record of many Dog & Bitch of the Year awards, Specialty &
National wins throughout Australia and New Zealand,
together with an outstanding record of the prestigious Royal Challenges
– many culminating in Royal Groups and, of course, the ultimate with Grand Ch
Eireannmada At Tulane achieving Best In Show at Melbourne Royal in 1998.
Until recently Greg’s
attendances at shows had been restricted to Royal and Specialty Shows but he continued to derive great
pleasure and satisfaction from the success of others with
“The Eireannmada's”. The
awarding of Life Membership by the Irish Setter Club of Victoria was
acknowledgment of his ongoing commitment to the breed.
Greg has now returned to the show ring
and is campaigning two
of the most consistent Specialty and All Breeds Best In Show winning Irish for
some time...Ch Eireannmada Fortuitous
and Ch Eireannmada Springtime, both
nearing their Grand Champions titles.
